Michael Gomez focuses his practice in the areas of bankruptcy, restructuring, debtor and creditor rights, and commercial litigation. He has represented various entities, including hedge funds, equipment lessors, and institutional lenders in chapters 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcy cases. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Gomez served as a law clerk for the Honorable Meredith A. Jury of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California, Riverside Division. As a clerk, Mr. Gomez also worked with various bankruptcy judges including the Honorable Kevin J. Carey for the District of Delaware and the Honorable Peter H. Carroll for the Central District of California. In addition, Mr. Gomez externed for the Honorable Alan M. Ahart of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California, Los Angeles Division, the Honorable Vincent P. Zurzolo of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California, Los Angeles Division, the Office of the United States Trustee for Region 16, and the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles where he assisted individual debtors with their chapter 7 cases.

While in law school Mr. Gomez won the First Honors Award for bankruptcy and the Judge Barry Russell Award for his bankruptcy coursework. Mr. Gomez's publications include "True Zone of Insolvency Liability for Directors, Officers and Controlling Shareholders," AM. BANKR. INST. J. Vol. XXVII, No. 10, at 30 (Dec. 2008/Jan. 2009) and "Bankruptcy and the Tax Impact of Foreclosure for Consumer Debtors," 30 CAL. BANKR. J. 73 (2009).

Mr. Gomez received his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley in 2003 and his JD from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles in 2007.
